First Days

“Hi, can I have a… um… cheese pizza, please?” She asked.

“Yes, sure. That’ll be $25 in cash, yes?”

“Yes”

“Okay, we’ll be there shortly”

Having no fridge and Pizza Rocket being the only fast food service, Pizza was all she would be able to eat until she got a fridge. It arrived and she paid the $25, eating quarter of the pizza, stuffing in as much as she could, knowing that it would get spoiled quickly in the hot rays of sun. She checked the time on her phone; an hour before work. She decided to visit the main park.

On arriving at the park, she noticed a man and straight away went over to talk to him. It seemed that

someone else had also seen the man and came over to talk to him.

The woman looked as if she was pregnant, this bought relief over Sandy, there would be no competition here. Then she thought that they could be married. This thought was soon destroyed as the woman was obviously unpleasant, calling both Sandy and the man nasty names and causing arguments.

“Why are you wearing those stupid sunglasses? Do you wear them all the time?”

“Yes I do! They stop the sun getting in my eyes and they’re a lot more fashionable than that weird hat your wearing. What era is that from? The 50’s?”

“No, this was made last year actually. Your dress sense isn’t great, but it’s better than his”

“Your dress sense is fine, although yours” The man said pointing to the grumpy lady “is just embarrassing. Your little one is going to get bullied at school for having a mother who can’t match clothes”

“HOW DARE YOU?! I…” The woman began rambling on.

Sandy checked her phone and nearly dropped it in the realization that she was half an hour late for work. She sprinted off and called a cab.

She ended in the early hours of the morning, feeling flirty after watching a couple get engaged. She wasn’t feeling too tired so she called for a cab and went to the lounge.

“Oh hey!” A voice shouted to Sandy.

“Hi, your that guy from the park, right?” She queried.

“Yep, unfortunate that we met in front of The Raven. I don’t think I got your name?”

“Sandy”

“Sandy… nice name, I’m Gideon,  do you mind if I call you Dee? It’s just I’ve got a friend called Sandy”

“No, that’s fine, I’m going to go get a drink… so see you later” She said as she headed inside.

She stopped in the toilets first, taking out the shiny red dress and shoes from her shopping bag. She went to the bar and ordered a drink.

After half an hour of solid drinking, Sandy was twice as romantic as usual and a lot more confident. She definitely was not sober though.

She walked outside, suddenly stopping at the sight of Gideon.

“Did I mention yourr looking very… hot tonight” She slurred.

“No I don’t think you did, lets go inside, it’s getting chilly out here”

She let out a giggle and wrapped her arm through his, stumbling after him. They sat down at a table, he bought over two more drinks.

“So, what is a beautiful gal like you doing in Oasis Springs?” Gideon asked.

“Oh wlel, my atuein died and i got fetl some money. Wantetd an advmenture so came here and xmet youy. Your really nice”

“Thanks. What do you do for a living?”

“Wib’m acn asstistant dishwasher. whayt duo you do?”

“That is a secret, I’m afraid. Where do you live then?” Gideon asked.

“Affluista Mansion- why? You gonnna… sstalk me home?” She giggled.

“No but I have a feeling I might have to drive you back, the way your going” He chuckled. “Is that not where the Landgraab’s used to live?”

“Yaeh they omved out, id’ be vvery grateful iof you could take mue fhome”

She stood up abruptly, Gideon rising up as quick as he could to to catch her as she fell.

“Oh, I think it’s time we took you home” He whispered.

 

Seeing the chance, she gave him a tight hug…

…which turned into a kiss.
